Motivation Monday

Saw this photo and it brought back a ton of memories.  We lived in Washington DC when Cal set his record.  Baltimore was just up the road and everyone was captivated by how it was unfolding.  You know the record...consecutive games played.  The one Lou Gehrig had set 50 years earlier.  The one that everyone said couldn't be broken.  And yet with what seemed like the whole world watching, Cal broke that record.  In fact he shattered it.  By the time he stopped in 1998 the record stood at 2632 consecutive games.  In this day and age of instant gratification, of folks who sit down because of the slightest ache and pain, of not a lot of attention to tradition...this was and is a wonder to behold.  It was amazing.  It was thrilling.  It was motivating!
