Beyond Incompetent

I was stunned today when I heard Obama.  How he is proceeding to prosecute the action against Syria is seriously flawed and cowardly.  Flawed because he has no strategy.  He has painted himself (and the rest of us) into a box.  Cowardly because instead of stepping up and taking responsibility for his actions, he is spreading the responsibility by going to Congress.  And he's waiting until they return from vacation!  Huh?  Vacation?  YGTBFKM!   He's talking about launching missiles to strike another nation, and he can't be bothered to bring Congress back from vacation.  I am simply stunned.

Even if you know nothing about military or national security strategy, you've got to instinctively know this is wrong and likely to either do nothing or result in disaster.  The blogosphere is alive with critiques of this insane policy.  Some of the best writing on this craziness is found over at InformationDissemination.  You can read it here.   It's a pretty easy read that will give you a good synopsis on what is going on.  I particularly liked the critique of Susan Rice.  I mean, could there be a worse person for the job of National Security Advisor?  Oh maybe...maybe they could go find a has been politician.  Or maybe they could go get a college professor.  Or maybe they could go get the woman who does my wife's nails.  Don't think there'd be much difference amongst all of them.

If this wasn't so bad, it would actually be comical.  But our position and prestige in the world has suffered almost irreparable damage under this guy.  It is simply unprecedented.

Friday Funnies

Amateurs

I've been watching amateurs in the White House sink into a death spiral over Syria.  These guys are out of their element.  Naive, stupid, arrogant, aloof, inexperienced...pick an adjective.  If they aren't careful they are going to wind up with a huge mess on their hands.  Hell, they already have a mess.  I just hope that they put their tails between their legs and admit their idiocy.  What is the chance of that?  Slim.  Seriously, this is getting serious.  And we're all going to have to live with it for a long time.  It's one thing to fuck up the economy.  And it's not cool to continuously pit Americans against each other.  But this is dangerous.  The ramifications of a misstep in their political calculations in launching missiles (and make no mistake, it's political) are monumental.  Dude, they are fucking this up...

Wednesdays With Jimmy

The other title of this post could be "The End".  Unfortunately, I've come the end of the YouTube videos I can find showing the unique talent of Jimmy Buffett.  Wish there were more...but alas that's it.  Some (and you know who you are) have told me that they won't miss it.  So be it.  But speaking as a Parrot Head...I'll miss it.  But oh well, everything must run it's course.  Hope you enjoyed it while it lasted.  I know I did.

Rules for Kickin Ass

A friend sent this.  Seems worth reposting!

Dear Citizens, 'We know that the current state of affairs in our great nation has many civilians up in arms and excited to join the military.

For those of you who can't join, you can still lend a hand. Here are a few of the areas where we would like your assistance:

1. The next time you see any adults talking (or wearing a hat) during the playing of the National Anthem- kick their ass.

2. When you witness, firsthand, someone burning the American Flag in protest - kick their ass.

3. Regardless of the rank they held while they served, pay the highest amount of respect to all veterans. If you see anyone doing otherwise, quietly pull them aside and explain how these veterans fought for the very freedom they bask in every second. Enlighten them on the many sacrifices these veterans made to make this Nation great. Then hold them down while a disabled veteran kicks their ass.

4. If you were never in the military, DO NOT pretend that you were. Wearing battle dress uniforms (BDUs) or Jungle Fatigues
and telling others that you used to be 'Special Forces'. Collecting GI Joe memorabilia, might have been okay when you were seven years old, now, it will only make you look stupid and get your ass kicked.

5. Next time you come across an *Air Force* member, do not ask them, 'Do you fly a jet?' Not everyone in the Air Force is a pilot. Such ignorance deserves an ass-kicking (children are exempt).

6. If you witness someone calling the Coast Guard 'non-military', inform them of their mistake - and kick their ass.

7. Next time Old Glory (the US flag) prances by during a parade, get on your damn feet and pay homage to her by placing your hand over your
heart. This includes arrogant politicians who think someone may be offended. Quietly thank the military member or veteran lucky enough to be carrying her - of course, failure to do either of those could earn you a severe ass-kicking.

9. 'Your mama wears combat boots' never made sense to me - stop saying it! If she did, she would most likely be a vet and therefore would kick your ass!

10. 'Flyboy' (*Air Force*), 'Jarhead' (*Marines*), 'Grunt' (*Army*), 'Squid' (*Navy*), 'Puddle Jumpers'(*Coast Guard*) Bubblehead (Subsailor)
etc., are terms of endearment we use describing each other. Unless you are a service member or vet, you have not earned the right to use them. Using them
could get your ass kicked.

11. Last, but not least, whether or not you were a member of the military, support our troops and their families. Every Thanksgiving and religious holiday that you enjoy with family and friends, please remember that there are literally thousands of soldiers, sailors, marines and airmen far from home wishing they could be with their families. Thank God for our military and the sacrifices they make every day. Without them, our country would get its ass kicked.

12. It's the Veteran, not the reporter, who has given us the freedom of the press.
It's the Veteran, not the poet, who has given us the freedom of speech.
It's the Veteran, not the community organizer, who gives us the freedom to demonstrate.
It's the Military who salutes the flag, who serves beneath the flag, and whose coffin is draped by the flag, who allows the protester to burn the flag.

An Apology Letter to Mr Obama

Check out the apology letter this guy wrote to Obama.  You can see it here.  Satirical...but full of truth!

Good Advice

Really like this piece of advice I ran across on another site.  Worth considering...

S'mores Anyone?

Saw this photo and it looks so nice thought I'd share.  I could envision spending a lot of time sitting around this fire!

Friday Funnies

Here's another one that's got a lot of truth to it...

Interesting World Statistics

A benefit of going to Hilton Head, SC for vacation every year is the family reunion, the biking, swimming, golfing, laughing, walking, etc.  Loads of fun!  But sometimes it rains.  I mean buckets of rain!!  So when that happens we play games, sit around and talk, and just generally chill.  And that gives me a chance to do a little surfing for some interesting things to share.

And that brings me to sharing this weird little site that provides some surprisingly interesting world maps.  You can check it out here.  I think most are pretty interesting but I like this one the best.  Think about what this says about the impact in the shift in population density will have on all our lives...

Here's another one that is pretty interesting.  There is an old saying that the sun never sets on the British Empire.  This map depicts all the places Britain has invaded in their history.  Now you know where that came from.  Of course...not the same anymore.

No Shame

We seem to be bombarded by obnoxious assholes in the public eye.  They are everywhere.  Weiner, Spitzer, Filner, Sanford, Brig Gen Sinclair, and on, and on, and on...  I'm not a fan of the President and I'm not accusing him of any of the unsavory things that these other idiots have done, but he is altering our country in such a fundamental way that I worry that we can't come back.  We are rapidly becoming a country of whiners and takers.

Why?  Why are we subjected to the actions of these jerks.  I wasn't going to say anything about all this but it's becoming ridiculous.  The situation deserves comment.

The worst thing is that these knuckleheads don't know when to go go away.  We are subjected to this jackass Filner here in SoCal and Weiner and Spitzer continue to force themselves on the citizens of New York.  It is beyond belief.  When did simple decorum and shame go by the wayside?  Why do these guys think that they are so damned important that we can't do without them.  The ego is a powerful force, but this just goes beyond anything I've ever seen.

And why do people listen to and vote for them.  Who in their right mind would vote for them?  But people do!  Are we so short of leadership that these scumbags are the only ones that can fill a vacancy?  Do people think they are going to do something special for them.  One of the biggest problems we have is the shrinking of the middle class.  But I don't think you create a middle class by giving people things, you create it by giving people opportunity.  These guys are so self centered that they could never see this truth.  And if someone is so obnoxious and self centered that they would continue to force their disgusting a selves on us, why would someone vote for them?  But they do!  I just don't get it.

Here's another thing.  Why would Weiner's wife stand beside him and continue to promote him?  He is obviously a scumbag of epic proportions.  She is by all account a smart, gracious, aware woman.  What in heavens name is she thinking?  And I don't want to get into the psychology of sexual harassment, but in 2013, if some woman is suffering sexual harassment why wouldn't she come forward and hold the jackass accountable.  Maybe it's that I can't understand because I haven't been there.  But if my wife, my daughter, anyone I know suffered the harassment that some of these women have suffered, I would support them to the end of the earth to take the scumbag down.

So just a few folks read this blog.  Sometimes as many as 90 a day.  Sometimes just a few.  But whoever you are, wherever you are, whatever you think stop voting mindlessly for idiots.  Stop empowering these low lifes.  Stop promoting the coarsening of society.

Friday Funnies

This one is a bit different.  These photos make me laugh all by themselves.  If you have to ask, then...well...this isn't a Friday Funnies you'll like.

Wednesdays With Jimmy

We made a road trip to Vegas last October for the Buffett concert at the MGM Grand.  It was a blast!  From the world's biggest Margarita party to 13000 Parrot-heads descending on the concert hall...it was a wonder to behold.  This is a bit long, but if you're a Parrot-head, you'll like it!

Friday Funnies

And I thought I was the only one who thought this...

Transformations

I've been to Dubai many times.  In fact I've driven by this very place.  It seems so, well, modern and vibrant.  Hard to believe that it was just getting going around 20 years ago.
