Required Reading

For all you active or retired Naval Aviators out there, if you don't read the blog "I Don't Know; Ask the Skipper" do yourself a favor and start following it.  In particular, check out the latest post at this link.  This blogger is very talented and if you're interested in the subject of all things having to do with Naval Aviation, I think you'll enjoy it.

This particular post has an excerpt from an old blog post of Neptunus Lex.  Neptunus Lex was a retired Naval Aviator and very prolific and talented blogger.  He died in an aviation accident 4 years ago so this is a bit of a tribute.   But his advice to someone assuming Command is as spot on as any I've seen.  And it's also great advice for anyone assuming a leadership position of almost any kind, be it military or business or whatever.
