Free Stuff

We hear a lot of people talking about our/their rights to free stuff.  Free health care, free college, etc.  Of course we already have a lot of free stuff.  Roads, schools, infrastructure, etc.  However, there is this little thing called taxes that pays for all this free stuff.  And taxes are only payed by a very few of us.  The percentage of citizens who pay taxes is not very high.  So there's a lot of free stuff out there and there's a clamor for more free stuff.  Because hey...who doesn't like free stuff.  That is why Bernie's message is resonating with a particular stratum of the population.  Free stuff.  He says that the government should pay for all the free stuff.  Of course...you have to remember that little thing called the Constitution.  Remember?   Government of the people, by the people, and for the people.  So free stuff isn't being paid for by anyone but...us.  So when our fellow citizens say they want more free stuff, they are really saying that they want someone else, not some monolithic, unknown government, to pay for it.  I guess we could take a lesson from one of our famous cousins across the pond.  This is an old saying, but still rings true.  So free stuff?  Great.  Just remember....there is no such thing.
